Province recently assisted a Commercial Equipment Lease company (“client”) and its counsel Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP (“Taft”) in a damages trial in the Oakland County (Michigan) Business Court. The Court adopted the client’s damages framework in its entirety, entering a judgment of over $6.2 million in favor of the client—100% of the amount sought.
The case involved a dispute over a default under a lease agreement for specialized equipment located in Mexico. After trial, the verdict came down in favor of our client on every contested issue. The damages framework developed by the Province team and advanced by Taft was adopted in full. The verdict also included a finding that a personal guarantee applied and was enforceable, and that the client was entitled to recover its attorney’s fees and costs.
Province Partner Patrick O’Keefe led the team, including Chris Seablom, on the damages analysis, helping support counsel’s legal strategy. Learn more about the case on Taft’s website.
