Mr. Shea is a Certified Public Accountant with documented experience in project finance, public accounting, and accounting advisory across many industries, including technology and renewable energy. His dedication to data-driven decision-making, ability to navigate complex financial models and experience in creating internal-control frameworks for private companies makes him a valuable member of the Province team.
Prior to joining Province, Mr. Shea served as a Portfolio Analyst for the Tax Equity Investing team at GAF Energy. In this role, he demonstrated exceptional expertise in financial modeling, specifically focusing on solar projects. He worked extensively with complex financial models that incorporated various revenue streams such as PPA contracted revenue, state program revenue streams and SRECs. Mr. Shea’s expertise in forecasting and budgeting was invaluable as he managed a portfolio of hundreds of commercial solar projects by tracking financial performance, creating internal forecasts for distributions and monitoring and executing buyout opportunities to maximize value to stakeholders.
Before his tenure at GAF Energy, Mr. Shea worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP as both an Audit Senior and later as an Accounting & Reporting Advisory Senior. He primarily focused on discussing complex technical accounting issues with clients, including the adoption of ASC 842 and ASC 606. Mr. Shea worked on deals from both an audit and advisory perspective, specifically in Silicon Valley, where he gained experience in acquisitions, SPACs and IPOs. Known for his ability to work under tight timelines during year-end audits, Mr. Shea consistently prioritized tasks to deliver high-quality audit work and thrived in the chaotic environments of pre-IPO and SPAC companies.
